Crazy, Busy Summer Update

I know it's been nearly a month since I last posted. Besides being incredibly busy, I've not been feeling very well. It's pretty predictable that I'd be so sick following our busy month. Besides Mother's Day, Father's Day, my birthday and a few weddings, we had our daughter and son in law's gender reveal party here on Saturday.

Friday is hubby's birthday; then I think we're done with the birthdays for a few months. Saturday, we are having a swimming party/cookout here with his high school buddies and their wives. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun. We still have a few more weddings to attend, too.

Of course, with all of the activity comes an increase in my symptoms. I've tried to pace myself when possible, but it's been hard to do. I've sprained my ankle four or five times in the past few weeks! I'm really thinking about going to the Ehlers Danlos Center in Maryland for help. I know they would have specialists there who can address some of my issues related to EDS. I'm sure I'd have to wait a while to get in, but it would be worth it if I could get some help. I'm having a lot of problems with weakness and pain in my hips. There are times where it makes walking difficult. I'm not sure who could help me with that. I did get an email out of the blue from my Mitochondrial Disease doctor telling me that I'm due for an appointment. I went ahead and set that up for September, but I'm going to get in touch with her to make sure that she really wants to see me. The last time we spoke, she said, she couldn't prove that I had Mito, but that didn't mean that wouldn't change in the future.

I had my follow-up appointment with my Endocrinologist a few weeks ago. I got a call when they received the results of my blood work and, apparently I'm showing signs of hypothyroidism. I've had Hashimoto's since last Fall, but my blood work has always been normal up until now, except for having the thyroid antibodies. I'm starting on Synthroid and will have my blood rechecked in a few months. I'm wondering if the Synthroid will help with my tiredness and muscle weakness.

I'm still trying to decide if I should push to see a rheumatologist or not. My Endocrinologist thought it would be a good idea if I did. She said to try again and see if my primary doctor would do the referral and that if they wouldn't, she would. I'm just not sure I want to see any more doctors right now.

Even though this summer has been super crazy, I have found a little bit of time to shop, and look what I found at Target!

The pillows are in the outdoor section and I think they may be on clearance now. I think I will go back and buy one. You can never have too much Zebra stuff when you have EDS!

So, that's what's been going on in my world the past month. I hope to get back to blogging more regularly. Hopefully, I'll have something more to say by the end of the week!
